Lasse och Ulla plot
Documentary about the unconditional love of the elderly couple Lasse and Ulla Rudberg for each other, despite Alzheimer's disease that is slowly taking over their lives. Lasse and Ulla have known each other for over seventy years. Lasse worked as a lawyer at Stockholm City Hall, Ulla as a primary school teacher. With their five children, the Rudberg family went out by boat, sailing through the Stockholm archipelago. Lasse and Ulla eagerly awaited their retirement, dreaming of their own house on one of the islands on the coast, where they could enjoy life in peace. But that dream shattered when Lasse developed Alzheimer's disease at age 69. Filmmaker Johanna Winblad followed the loving couple with her camera for no less than nine years, from the moment Lasse's illness first revealed itself. As the disease progresses, and Lasse takes on all the traits of a troublesome Alzheimer's patient, Ulla's choice for the love of her life remains unconditional. Through all the storms of life, Ulla keeps an eye on the positive sides, for the things they can still do together. But eventually caring for her husband Ulla becomes too much, and she has to let Lasse go.
