La Liberté plot

“I'm here for murder, not a sex crime,” an off-screen inmate declares. That's what he wants to say, because if he ever becomes eligible for a transfer, he has a better chance as a murderer than as a sex offender. He is in the minority in the open penitentiary in Casabianda, Corsican, because more than 80 percent of the convicts are there because of a sex crime that is usually committed in a domestic environment. They are pariahs among pariahs, but in front of Guillaume Massart's patient camera some of them become human again.
