La Cité Animale plot
A remarkably large number of animals live in Djaipur, a large city in northern India. A large part of them walk freely through the streets, seemingly unimpeded by the busy traffic. They rummage through the garbage or try to steal food from street vendors' stalls. Authorities are trying to reduce the number of animals on the streets, but for various reasons, most owners are unable to keep their cows, pigs or goats indoors. Some don't even have a house and are forced by poverty to let their animal scavenge for its own food. But also religious factors and superstitions play an important role.
