La Chute plot

Even when a paraglider mysteriously falls from the sky, the residents of Zinal don't seem to care. The town in the Swiss Alps looks straight up at the melting glaciers of the Couronne Impériale. But what should they do? They can't stop the decay of the world, but when the threat is so immediate, and the personal impotence so great, is there any other way than to respond with nihilistic, cynical indifference?
