L.A. Raeven - Beyond the Image plot

The Dutch artist duo LA Raeven consists of the Limburg twin sisters Angelique and Liesbeth Raeven. Over the past decade they have made a name for themselves in the international art world with video installations and performances, in which they comment on the female beauty ideal and consumer society in a penetrating and personal way. Considered controversial in the art world, their work resonates with an obsession with food and a struggle with the clichés of twins. Filmmaker Lisa Boerstra films the creation of two new works and follows the twins in daily life in the house where they live and work together. These images are interwoven with fragments from earlier work and family films from their baby and childhood years.
