Koude Grond plot
Cold Ground tells the story of the Moluccan community in Zeeland. In 1951, thousands of Moluccans were shipped to the Netherlands. They intended to stay only briefly, waiting for the promise of a free Moluccan republic. But that promise was never fulfilled. The documentary portrays the last surviving first-generation Moluccans: their memories of the Dutch East Indies, their journey, their arrival, and the silent struggle in Zeeland. Simultaneously, the second and third generations are seen: how do they shape their identity, between Moluccan roots and Dutch reality?
