Kommune der Seligen plot
When an anti-Baptist community from Germany in the sixteenth century proclaimed the commune as the ideal Christian way of life, it was persecuted to the stake. Descendants of the group found a safe haven in Alberta, Canada, among others, where German director Klaus Stanjek follows a colony of 101 'souls' in their daily life. He records and interviews the residents, interspersed with wisdom from 1553, who still give direction to their lives today. The Hutterans, dressed in medieval costumes, who speak a German dialect, fill their lives with work, work and more work.
