Kokkho-poth plot
"Filmed over 17 years, this up-close documentary takes the viewer through the life experiences of an ordinary Indian man trying to hold on to his calling of being a poet while juggling a normal life."
As the film begins preparing for a Bengali child's birthday, a flashback takes us to the childhood of the father, Sarthak Roychowdhary. The documentary follows this character over twenty years. We see Sarthak as a young student, ambitious, cultured, conceited, a chatty lounger, surrounded by his family under the thrall of a domineering mother. Their home is the center of family life set in the urban chaos of Calcutta. Over the years, the video fragments evolve, closely recording his evolution into adulthood. Sarthak becomes a sensitive poet and an alert teacher, thus conforming to the Bengali intellectual scheme: shaped by communist culture and structuralist theories, but also verbal and funny. During his studies he meets a curious, lively, loving and critical woman who gives his life direction.
