In 1976, Brian de Palma directs the film Carrie, the first book written by horror master Stephen King. Since then, at least 50 directors have filmed King's works for the big and small screen. This makes the horror author the most filmed writer still alive. Names associated with the films and series such as Frank Darabont (Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile), Tom Holland (The Langoliers), Mick Garris (The Stand and Sleepwalkers) and Taylor Hackford (Dolores Claiborne) are also fans of King's oeuvre about which they come to tell.

Partly a missed opportunity; this project probably would have worked better as a series, given the amount of films based on Stephen King's work. Nowadays, many films come off rather poorly, if they are discussed at all. Yet an impressive procession of directors passes by and there is a lot to enjoy here and there. The interviews with Frank Darabont and Mike Flanagan are especially interesting.
