Katastrofa plot
On April 10, 2010, around 9 am, a Tupolev Tu-154M of the Polish Air Force crashes near Smolensk, Russia. On board are Polish President Lech Kaczynski and his wife, the top of the Polish army and a number of managers from national institutes who are on their way to a commemoration ceremony. All 96 people on board die that morning. Immediately after the incident, the makers of 'Catastrophe' take to the streets with cameras and record the mass rallies in the center of Warsaw. Initially, sadness and unity predominate. But in the days and weeks following that initial public response, outrage grows. Behind the mass grief over the sudden death of the president, it turns out, is a deeply divided Polish nation.
