Just an Alien plot

Chinese photographer Weicheng Hua meets the drifter Zhighuo Sun in 2015 at an amusement park just outside Chongqing. Hua's first film is a loving portrait of this drug-using, perhaps psychotic, sensitive and always cheerful Sun, who moves through the amusement park like a kind of shaman, oring about mystical concepts such as 'the zero principle' and 'inventing the self'. The main character seems to fit perfectly into the wonderful environment. The Buitenlandersstraat theme park, which opened in 2006, was a mishmash of extremely strange structures, from UFOs to a mini-Manhattan, a revolving Jesus statue and a Thai brothel. A surrealistic whole, depressing and hopeful at the same time: the chaotic, ugly park was also a sanctuary for outsiders.
