Islam behind Bars plot
In prisons around the world, Islam is the fastest growing religion. Many criminals convert during their detention, sometimes out of remorse, sometimes to sever ties with the past. Of course, other motives also play a role, often legitimate, but the fact remains that prisons are a rewarding recruiting place for fundamentalist Muslim activists. “Islam behind Bars” is the story of some of these criminal converts, such as that of the infamous Richard Reid, better known as 'the shoe bomber'. A 'prison conversion' does not always have such far-reaching consequences. The film also follows a number of American convicts who hope for a better life.
