Ishibumi plot

"Carved in Stone"

A film about the bombing of Hiroshima. It is Hirokazu Koreeda's remake of a 1969 classic TV show produced by Hiroshima Television. The focus of the original TV show and accompanying book were the 322 freshmen and four Hiroshima high school teachers who were engaged in demolition work just 500 meters from the hypocenter of the blast and died on site or shortly afterwards. The survivors collected testimonies of their last words and actions that formed the basis of the book, the program and now this documentary.
