Intimate Stranger plot

Joseph Cassuto was working on his autobiography when he died in an accident in 1974. Alan Berliner picks up the thread again with “Intimate Stranger” and reconstructs the life of Cassuto, his maternal grandfather. Before the war, Cassuto, a Palestinian Jew, worked in Cairo for a Japanese cotton firm. After the war, he moved to New York to join his American wife and children. There he built up intensive contacts with Japanese businessmen.
