InRealLife plot
In a short time, our lives have been changed by the use of mobile phones and internet technologies - what does this mean, especially for a generation that has never known anything else? Beeban Kidron's documentary encourages us to think critically about our adoption of that technology. The cinematographer observes the compelling behavior of her own teenagers and talks with them about how technology is shaping their expectations of friendship, their cognition and their sexuality. She interviews experts including Wikipedia's Jimmy Wales, writer Clay Shirky, Microsoft researcher Danah Boyd, and MIT Media Lab Nicholas Negroponte. Her research also raises questions about the consequences of the data collection and who benefits from it.
