Informant plot
Brandon Darby grew up in Texas among oil refineries, where, as he himself says, abuses were covered up and where he quickly developed a strong sense of justice and an aversion to abuse of power. As a left-wing activist, he is involved in the creation of an organization that provides support to residents of the neighborhoods of New Orleans devastated by Hurricane Katrina. His charisma, guts and decisiveness make him revered as a hero by many. In 2008, however, he falls mercilessly off his pedestal in left-wing circles when it turns out that he works as an informant for the FBI and is responsible for the arrest of two young men who would threaten that year's Republican convention, but who were probably killed by Darby. are heated. Informant tells his life story on the basis of interviews and reconstructions. The maker lets the protagonist speak for himself, but both (former) admirers and critics also give their view on the man and his actions. This creates a fascinating picture of someone who uses his decisiveness and ideals to do good, but who also misses his goal as a boundless egomaniac, with far-reaching consequences for all involved.
