Iceberg plot
Teresa, a fisherwoman in her sixties, leads an isolated life on a small, unnamed island. She spends most of her days on the water, rain or shine, fishing on a rickety, homemade raft together with her dog Diana. The bright spot in her otherwise lonely existence is granddaughter Maria, who was left behind on the island by her mother with Teresa. But Maria is home only sporadically – with a heavy heart, Teresa accompanies her granddaughter to the boat that takes her to boarding school on the other side of the water.
