Hranica plot

For seven years a small crew visited the inhabitants of the village of Slemence, which in 1946 was located overnight in two countries: Czechoslovakia and Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union). The cemetery, fields and entire families were split in half. The arbitrary border did not take into account residents, who now have to travel 150 kilometers into the city to get a visa to the other side. Relatives shout to each other over the fence to relay the latest marriages and deaths. The Slovak documentary makers of 'The Border' look with a keen eye at the absurdities that take place around their borders.
