Home Is Somewhere Else plot
It is estimated that there are 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the United States. Often they lead normal lives, but the risk of immediate eviction is always there. What is it like growing up in such a situation? In this animation, three young immigrants tell their stories. Eleven-year-old Jasmine is the daughter of undocumented parents and fears being separated from them. Growing up in Utah from the age of eight, José Eduardo was illegally deported from the country at age 23, far away from his family. Evelyn – born in America and therefore an American citizen – has chosen to return to Mexico. She often faces time with her sister Elizabeth, who, as an illegal immigrant in Los Angeles, finds it hard to realize her ambitions.
