Guilty Pleasures plot
Every four seconds, a bouquet-series novel is sold worldwide. The formula is simple: man falls for woman, overcomes various obstacles and knows how to win her over. Always on the cover: muscular man and sensual woman in a passionate embrace. What is the secret of these pockets, full of unrealistic love stories? A Japanese reader especially swoons over the scenes in which there is ballroom dancing and decides to take lessons herself. Swirling on the dance floor in the arms of her handsome teacher, she feels the adored beauty of the novels. Her husband knows he can never beat the fiction anyway. He can't get the sweet words that the men in the books say. Dreaming about an ideal world, with an ideal partner, turns out not only to be reserved for married women. The perfectly trained cover model of many bouquet series books also appears to be eagerly looking for his like-minded soul. Guilty Pleasures lightly confronts us with the human need to flee in an ideal world. This one is a bit more romantic than the author of many bouquet series novels outlines: "Marriage is the price men pay for sex, sex is the price women pay for marriage."
