Grensland plot
The main narrator and guide in 'Borderland' is Luc, an ex self-employed bank manager who got into trouble after being fired in 2003. Pascal has always lived in uncertainty as a squatter, but now tries to lead as normal a life as possible with a new job at the neighborhood service. Martine lives opposite the community center. Yet she never gets there. As a single mother with eight children and a dependent grandchild, she always has her hands full. Sylvère does visit regularly. At the age of 19 he lost his arm in a work accident. Tine is the antidote to Luc's pessimism. After a battle with cancer and a difficult divorce, she discovered that it is possible to reverse the spiral of misery. Borderland is a haunting documentary that puts social exclusion and long-term unemployment in the light of current activation policies and questions the way society deals with poverty.
