Photographer Gregory Crewdson does not quickly shoot a picture. No, devising and staging the scenes he photographs is a process of weeks, often months. Over the past decade, he has completed the most comprehensive photography project ever: a series of haunting, surreal portraits of life in small American villages. When shooting his photos, photographer Gregory Crewdson acts more like a film director than a photographer. The life of simple people in the impoverished small villages in the Northeast of the United States is often a source of inspiration for him.
