Gorbachev. Heaven plot
Mikhail Gorbachev, the now 89-year-old former leader of the Soviet Union, receives Russian filmmaker Vitaly Mansky in his villa just outside Moscow. In an atmosphere of pleasant light-heartedness, major subjects are nevertheless discussed when Gorbachev looks back on his life. The conversation is about the reforms he implemented as the highest party boss in the 1980s. About the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, followed by the collapse of the Soviet empire, and how the Russian people did not thank him when it turned out that this new freedom was accompanied by unemployment and hunger. Mansky questions Gorbachev about major decisions that also affected his life.
