Freetime Machos plot

Matti broke his little finger during a rugby match. It hurts terribly, but his mates laugh at him. A real man breaks at least an arm or a leg. In 'Freetime Machos' we get to know Matti, his best friend Mikko and a few more members of the northernmost and third worst rugby club in the world. What moves the Finnish man? As bleak as the opening quote suggests -- the bedroom is for sleeping and copulation, not for having fun with sex -- thankfully it isn't. In a loose, light-hearted style, Ronkainen observes these melancholy men who turn out to be much more boyish and meek than they appear to be. After yet another lost game, they exchange confidential information on the bus. In the background, business turmoil at Nokia, the suicide of a friend and changes in the family play a role.
