Four Journeys plot
Four Journeys is a family story set against the backdrop of the last 40 years of China. As a second child, filmmaker Louis Hothothot was illegal because of China's one-child policy. His father had to pay annual salaries for three years and give up his political career for his existence. After living in Europe for seven years, Louis travels back home to uncover his family history. His parents and sister live in a new apartment in Beijing. There is nothing to indicate a shared family life, but there is the memory of a photo in which Louis' mother and father pose with his sister for a portrait of Mao. His mother is then three months pregnant.
