Fortunate Son plot
Sometimes the camera can be the eye with which you look at your own life. Filmmaker Tony Asimakopoulos not only looks at his past and present with it, he also focuses it on his parents and his girlfriend and the relationships he maintains with them. In this self-conscious ego-document, he comes to painful insights that take him back to a less prosperous period in his life, when he slipped into a drug-fueled depression that brought him to the brink of total self-destruction. He is now doing well. His life has form and content, he is about to marry his great love. After the first collage of old photos that give a bird's-eye view of his parents' past, he wonders in the voice-over whether he is a good son.
