Forced Confessions plot
Nothing is more humiliating than having to recite other people's lies. Millions of Iranians watched on television in 2009 how filmmaker Maziar Bahari was forced to make a false confession. He is said to have collaborated with the West and was accused of espionage. As a filmmaker and journalist working for Western broadcasters, he was the perfect scapegoat for the regime. Since 1979, the year of the Iranian revolution, many intellectuals, writers, philosophers and journalists preceded Bahari. Through the maker's personal voice-over and interviews with compatriots who have experienced the same, the viewer is guided through the history of forced confessions in Iran.
