Folktales plot

The Norwegian Community School was founded in the 1840s to provide free education in remote rural communities. Now, several community schools have an international character with a unique approach. This documentary focuses on three young people (including Raimon from Groningen) who have enrolled in a school not far from the Russian border. With the support of mentors and sled dogs, they face the challenge of learning to survive in this inhospitable terrain, with the goal of developing the skills and confidence that will enable them to take the next step in their lives. Hege, Raimon, and Bjørn represent a cross-section of the much larger group and are remarkably candid about their concerns and insecurities. Meanwhile, we witness their struggles and growth throughout the school year, with their bond with the inevitably captivating sled dogs playing a key role. Meticulously made and filled with beautiful images of Norwegian nature.
