There seems to be no end to the things Paolo can learn from exploring this mountain, which he has made his home for a few years now. Sometimes he also feels like a ghost, and Laki, his old dog, becomes his guide. Where will it take him? To paraphrase Suzanne Simard: this film is not about how we can save the mountain. Paolo Cognetti's bestseller 'The Eight Mountains' was, among other things, a declaration of love for life in the mountains. In this documentary, Cognetti walks with his faithful dog on the Italian Alps. He alternates beautiful images of the surroundings with conversations with people who live and work there for a large part of their lives. Romantic, philosophical reflections on the lives of people who clearly feel at home. The most interesting conversation is with former sherpa Arturo Squinobal, but it is mainly a lot of the same.
