Farmingville plot

The filmmakers follow the events in Farmingville, Long Island, a small town near New York for an extended period of time. From the 1990s onwards, many thousands of Mexican workers settled here, driven by the poor economic conditions in their own country and in search of a better life in the US. They came on their own initiative but were often also recruited by Americans as cheap labour. The hardworking middle class citizens of Farmingville feel threatened by the mostly illegal immigrants. There is talk of an invasion of foreigners who want to take over the country. Tensions mount and a wave of xenophobia and racial violence engulfs the city...
