Henning Haslund-Christensen was a famous Danish adventurer who, during one of his expeditions, devoted himself to meticulously recording the culture of the indigenous people of Mongolia and brought back a treasure trove of relics. Henning died when his son Søren was 15, so his grandson Michael never knew him. Now that Søren is in his 80s, Michael uses this chapter in the family history to travel to Mongolia with his father to reconstruct his grandfather's journey. Together, father and son discover what Henning still means to the indigenous people. Dalsgaard does not shy away from the outdated imperialist, outdated motives for the expeditions, which makes the course of this road trip all the more remarkable, even if it is difficult to read any emotion in Søren's stoic demeanor.
