Enkeltje Hemel plot

To run a charter train in 2013 from Maastricht to Lourdes seems an almost impossible task these days. On railway lines where the schedules are imposed by high-speed trains and freight wagons, this train is an odd one out. While twenty years ago it was still an honor to give the Pilgrimage train a free and smooth passage, now the National Railways of the Netherlands, Belgium and France are visibly working against it. The train has become a burden from a status symbol and thus the fate of this special train journey is sealed.
