En Frusen Dröm plot
In 1897, three Swedes ventured on an expedition to the North Pole by… hot air balloon! However, the engineers SA Andrée and Nils Strindberg and the physicist and photographer Knut Fraenkel never reached their destination. Worse, they never returned at all. The fate of these three men remained a mystery for more than thirty years, until in 1930 Norwegian scientists made a sensational discovery: a camera with exposed rolls of film, notes, logs and diaries of the expedition were found in the ice. In this way the grueling three-month survival journey of these adventurers could be followed from day to day. The Swedish director and cameraman Jan Troell made a documentary about this, based on the spectacular source material: the letters, the diaries and the photos and images of the discovery of the remains of the expedition in 1930.
