Emergent City plot

Industry City is a massive former industrial complex in Brooklyn, one of New York's most desirable neighborhoods. When the complex is purchased by an international developer to create a new "innovation district," local residents revolt. Everything hinges on the rezoning plan. This documentary shows a community of predominantly Latino and Chinese New Yorkers who have been affected by racism, the loss of industrial jobs, and rising rents over the years. Can their collective action dent the forces of money and politics?
