El Velo de Berta plot
In the mountains of southern Chile, the multinational Endesa is developing the Ralco project: the construction of a gigantic dam to limit the Bio-Bio River. It will also flood the area that has been inhabited by the indigenous Pehuenche community for centuries. Despite the support of the Chilean government, the company faced fierce resistance from a small group of old Pehuenche women from the start. This documentary tells the story of one of these women, Berta Quintremán, who at an old age still leads the resistance against the construction of the dam.
