Eclat plot

Musical documentary focusing on the composition 'Eclat' by Pierre Boulez. He composed the score in 1965. After the strict serialism of the fifties, he regained his musical freedom with this work, in which the serial achievements are fully integrated. 'Eclat' is considered one of Boulez's most original and characteristic scores. Boulez has divided the instruments into two groups. This creates special contrasts. The piece is performed by the Nieuwe Ensemble under the direction of conductor Ed Spanjaard, who, like Boulez, is given ample opportunity to speak in the film.
