Dierbaar plot

A portrait of a number of people with an exorbitant love for their pets. It's her dog Sandra's birthday, so the now elderly mistress treats the children in the neighborhood to candy. All are customers of a fishing and pet shop in a working-class neighborhood in Amsterdam. The moving social portrait allows the main characters to talk candidly about their own lives. The unconditional love of and for their pet often turns out to be the savior in this.
