Die Treuhänderin plot
Dramatized film biography of Birgit Breuel, former chairwoman of the Treuhand, the institute that supervised the privatization process of all state companies in the former GDR after the fall of the Wall. The Hamburg banker's daughter Breuel, born Münchmeyer in 1937, had a lifelong experience in finance as a CDU politician. In 1990 she became an influential woman. Her directorship at the Treuhand (1990-1995) had something cynical at the same time: a woman with ultimate responsibility for a tricky operation, the de facto result of a world full of male arrogance and ruthlessness.
