Det Nye Museet plot
For over six years, filmmaker Birgitte Sigmundstad followed the creation of the Norwegian National Museum in Oslo, a monumental project that unites four institutions under one enormous, temple-like roof designed by Kleihues+Schuwerk. With rich visuals, this documentary offers an authentic glimpse behind the scenes of one of Scandinavia's largest cultural transformations. The tensions inherent in such an undertaking are unvarnishedly explored: curatorial debates, the logistical challenges of moving and storing large collections, aesthetic and technical decision-making, operating under time and budget constraints, political resistance, and growing public expectations.
