De Schattenberg plot

They expected a nice hotel, but instead ended up in the barracks of Westerbork in 1950. After independence in 1949, the Dutch East Indies had a choice: either they became Indonesian or they remained Dutch and left for the Netherlands. Together with two Dutch-Indonesian families, including her mother, maker Monique Verhoeckx travels back to the former transit camp.
