De Pleintjes plot

The documentary 'De Pleintjes' tells the story of the great street football culture in Antwerp. In often-maligned Antwerp neighborhoods such as Het Kiel, Borgerhout, Deurne or Stuivenberg, the social life of thousands of young people takes place on streets and squares from early in the morning until late at night. They grow up in a harsh environment and get to know the world, but above all they dream - just like everyone else - of a great future. They want to follow in the footsteps of professional football players such as Moussa Dembele (Tottenham) or Radja Nainggolan (AS Roma). They preceded them and made their way from the Bisthovenplein in Deurne or the Antwerp Left Bank to a European top club.
