Cuates de Australia plot
It is not easy to survive on the large dry plains of northeastern Mexico. The families who live and work on a communal ranch know this better than anyone. In cinéma vérité style, the residents are followed in their daily activities, which are dominated by the lack of water. During the seasons that pass over the imposing, bone-dry prairie, the viewer witnesses the activity on the ranch: herding the cattle, managing the land. But also of life within the close-knit community: scenes at the dinner table, children going to school, village and baptisms taking place, horse racing competitions or a rare riot. But most of all it is that waiting for that one cloudburst. With the land becoming drier and drier, the only water source in the area drying up, and the livestock becoming weaker, an exodus for the families seems inevitable.
