Cendres plot
When Kyoko Kosaka is dying in Paris, her daughter Akiko comes over from Japan to care for her and, after the illness, handle the cremation and inheritance. Directors Mélanie Pavy and Idrissa Guiro followed Akiko on her largely solitary journey, from collecting the urn in Paris to scattering the ashes in Japan. When reunited with family, memories of the deceased are recalled and preparations are made for a ceremony. In Akiko's mother's estate is a diary. In it, Kyoko, like a voice from the afterlife, tells about the motives that brought her to Paris.
