Canal Zone plot

The Panama Canal zone is controlled by the Americans. Frederick Wiseman became interested in the subject after hearing how the Americans residing there are trying to keep their feet up. They cling to their traditions, values and rituals. They have done everything they can to organize their lives in such a way that it resembles life at home as much as possible.
