Calling the Ghosts plot
Two Bosnian women were tortured and raped in a concentration camp during the war in the former Yugoslavia. After the war, Jadranka Cigelj and Nusreta Sivac started a struggle for rape to be recognized as a war crime. As a result of their efforts, the perpetrators were on trial in 1996 before the International War Crimes Tribunal. The action of the two women received international recognition. What started as a struggle against the persistent silence of women who were raped in wartime, then took on a far-reaching political and international impact. This documentary shows a portrait of these two women.
