Byker plot

In 1963 Konttinen emigrated to England, where she took up residence in Newcastle. At first she is looked at with a strange look, but gradually people start to appreciate the photographer-writer. This film is a very personal impression of the Byker district and the people who live there, partly told in photos, interspersed with images, staged or not, in which ordinary people talk about themselves, recite a poem, sing a song or tell an anecdote.
