Brothers Hypnotic plot
For the eight young men of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, 'brotherhood' has a literal meaning: they are all sons of jazz legend Phil Cohran. They grew up in raw South Chicago in a family of 24 children and two mothers, on a strict diet of jazz, funk and Black Consciousness. Rehearsals for the family ensemble started every morning at six o'clock by blowing minute-long notes. Now that they've grown up and sounded their eight brass horns—whether playing their unique blend of jazz, funk and hip-hop on the streets of New York, collaborating with Mos Def or Prince, or flattening North Sea Jazz—the ideals that they always get tested. Are their parents' principles really theirs?
