Bonobos plot
In this documentary, Alain Tixier tells the real and moving story of Beni, a small bonobo monkey found in the market in Kinshasa, who is released back into the wilderness. Of all the monkeys, the bonobo, formerly known as the "dwarf chimpanzee", is the closest to humans, even closer than the chimpanzee, with 99% common genes. Its habitat, which is only in the Congo, is shrinking disastrously fast, making the bonobo one of the most endangered monkey species in the world and the situation is getting worse every day. He is hunted for his flesh (bushmeat), for witchcraft, and the babies are sold as pets.
