Black Harvest plot
Joe Leahy, son of an Australian planter and a native woman, lives in the highlands of Papua New Guinea. After ten years of hard work, he is the rich owner of a coffee plantation. To expand his activities, he makes an alliance with the Ganiga tribe. His great ally is Popina Mai, a warlord and orator who wants to lead his people into the modern world as soon as possible. Together they start a new plantation, Kaugum. It is agreed that Leahy will receive sixty percent of the proceeds, the five hundred tribesmen 40 percent. After several years of patience, the first harvest is just around the corner. The Ganiga people look forward to their reward for hard work. Joe's lifestyle constantly reminded them of the promised wealth. The Ganigas also want money and believe that the coffee crop will answer all their prayers.
