Beyond Punishment plot
"Freedom is what you do with what has been done to you."
At the center of Hubertus Siegert's documentary are the legal systems in Norway, the US and Germany. The criminal concepts are compared and investigated, in which the victim and the perpetrator each time have their say. Karl and Erik live in Norway; Karl killed Erik's 16-year-old daughter Elisabeth out of jealousy. After serving his prison sentence, he moved back to the village where the crime took place. Lisa and Leola are at home in the Bronx. Meanwhile, they have spent 11 years waiting for a confession from Sean, who was sentenced to 40 years.
